Young betta

How can I tell if my betta is still young? Paco was the smallest one at Petsmart, and I don't think he is an adult

I think all bettas sold at petco/petsmart are young. The smaller they are the younger they are.

Yup! Registered user is right - the smaller the younger
I've estimated that the smallest ones at petsmart are generally around 3.5 months. The full grown ones are 8 months+

+...1? 2?....xD Either way, I agree. Hard to make a perfect estimate, but the smaller the betta generally the younger they are.
I've noticed Petsmart(or at least the one in my area)has been getting in some really young HMs, DTs, and females. Last I went in there all their HMs were absolutely preciously tiny! Couldn't have been more then 4 months old.
The VTs and CTs and PKs I see though look to be a good 6-9 months...some of them are even too large to move around much in their little cups! Its really quite sad...

I have two baby Bettas from Petco, one seems to be (!) a crowntail, the other a Plurple veiltail. I feed mine Hakari First Bites, but might see if they will take solid food later. They are a 1/2 inch.

Paco is preciously tiny. I think he is only an inch long

Yup, assuming we're talking about body-only length then thats about how big my newest boy is, and there were a couple even smaller them him.
If only Petco would sell them like this instead of the few week old fry....these guys are young, but still technically adults, and much less fragile then a tiny fry while still being tiny and adorable. Darn Petco....xP

I'd say in general an inch rounds out to about 4 months. -- this is if its just the body. If fins are included then I'd say he's atleast half that age.
