New Mexico Betta Guy

Hi everyone! My name's Daniel and I have recently been infected by the betta virus. I have 3 male bettas: Cova, Hendrix, and Sgt Aces.

THIS IS COVA THE HALFMOON PLAKAT (PROUD OF HIS BUBBLENEST)

HENDRIX THE HALFMOON (ENJOYING HIS BUBBLENEST)

SGT ACES THE GIMPY ELEPHANT EAR (YET TO CONSTRUCT A BUBBLENEST)

Hendrix is from Thailand and he is so unique I have yet to see another quite like him, which is why I chose to use him for my avatar.

Cova and Hendrix have filtered 6.6 gallon tanks with silk plants and black sand. Sgt Aces has a 5 gallon sponge-filtered tank with a real anubias plant and Seachem gravel. I also have 4 female bettas (2 HM's + 2 CT's) in a 10 gallon filtered and planted tank which I may post pics of someday.

I am certainly a new betta enthusiast who is looking for good reliable information from the seasoned hobbyists and breeders of tropical fish and bettas in particular. In joining this site I hope to help by sharing my own experiences and meeting others who share the same love and passion for betta fish and aquariums in general.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to meeting the community here!

Hi Daniel - welcome to the forum

You have stunning fish - especially Hendrix. I can't get over all of those colors in his body.

Pygmy hah that was pretty funny! He was being sold at PetCo as an elephant ear betta which I had never heard of before (similar to the big ear/dumbo bettas on AquaBid I suppose). He is gimpy because he only has one large pectoral fin. I felt bad for the poor guy and I was surprised that he wasn't culled because of his imperfection. I took him home right away as I already had the 5 gallon set up and cycled.

Here is a not-so-clear picture of him from another angle.

Ooh wow!! that's crazy! I think somebody else on this forum has a betta with only one "elephant ear" too! I'm surprised he wasnt culled either.
I'm sure they thought somebody would take pitty on him and take him home.
He is gorgeous, I cant imagine why nobody would! He's lucky you found him and not somebody that was going to keep him in a .5 gallon bowl for the rest of his life.
