aggressive female?

So I had put my male and female together to breed at first the male was a little aggressive to the female then she became aggressive towards him like hanging on to his fins and he looks like he’s in pretty bad shape because of her doing this. Like she would hang on to his tail fins and would let go I had to stick something in the tank to get her to let go. I've never read anything about the females being aggressive so i was wondering if this was normal and what should i do? (they are currently separated again)

my female is very aggressive. i've never put another fish with her just ocs i have a feeling it wont end well. she bites me sometimes XD
