The thermometer I use is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Marina-Floatin...hu-rd_add_1_dp so I don't believe it's taking the temp of the outside or plastic.

As for Steve he's currently in the empty half of the 10g. He and Hilda had a bit of a flare off through the divider, which is semi opague, but they're pretty much ignoring each other as of now.

I think he's taking the change better than I am! He likes to watch tv with me at night and I missed that. He literally stays at the front of the tank and stares at my tv while the show is on, especially if it's MLP.

Let's just hope his new filter gets here soon!

Yeah, this is a fairly common problem in areas with colder climates. It's actually one reason I've never tried uncycled - I knew I'd need a filter to circulate the water anyway, so there is no point. I usually position the filter intake tube right next to the heater so there is a constant flow of water around it (otherwise the water around the heater will heat up fairly quickly, and if it is on a thermostat, it will just turn off).

Hehehe, Steve and Hilda are currently having a bubble nest building contest. xD I can just imagine Steve saying, "Hey babe, look at my nest? Impressed?" And her just scoffing and going "B****, please. This is a nest."

I also apologize for not posting pictures yet! I've been super busy lately due to the holidays and whatnot.

I've also decided that Steve's manliness has been obliterated the past few days. I got his filter and was planning to install today during water changes but when I got it out of the boxing I discovered it was cracked! So now I have to send it back to amazon.
