Betta do not have teeth like we have teeth or sharks have teeth. They have raised bony ridges inside their jaws. I've been bitten in anger by a fiesty giant Betta (see avatar). No big deal. Much better than being bitten by a >3 foot Arowana

Here's a great picture by TFK member, Inareverie:

No, now imagine getting bitten by a northern. O.O I thought it took my finger off when I tried getting the hook out of it's mouth.

I'm always extremely cautious around my betta because I don't want to get bit but the goldfish have nipped my finger tips on more than one occasion and sometimes they just head butt my hands when it's in the tank straightening things out. The goldies do enjoy practically jumping out of the water when I feed them. The pellets I have are sinking ones but they take a bit to actually sink and they just aren't patient.

The pike is one fish that scares me... I've caught them fishing before and they have a mouthful of teeth. It would reeaaaally hurt to get bit by one!

Alacrity isn't too fond of my hand in the tank either. I get a little skittish when he swims by to investigate but he's yet to actually do anything. I know it probably won't hurt but I just don't like it xD My dog bites me enough during the day, the brat, so I really don't want fishie bites too.

I think if I were to get bitten by a larger fish than I have in any of my tanks, I would be worried.

When my bettas bite, it doesn't hurt. The only time I've ever been bitten by a betta and it scared me was when my sister's bettas were in a divided tank, and they were trying to attack eachother through the plexiglass, and i stuck my finger in to distract one trying to break them up and he turned around and but me and hung on. I had to shake my hand very roughly to get him off. I was afraid I'd hurt him.

Also, I was moving a decoration around in my 10 gallon sorority, and my biggest girl came up and bit me on my elbow, which surprised me, but it didn't hurt. :P

Other than that, I have a 6 inch cichlid and 3 large tiger barbs who will come and nibble at my finger if I stick it in their tank, but they're piglets and they think everything is food. lol.
