Sure. I set up my tank, and filter - I use an Aquaclear 20 in a 10 gallon.
Cranked the heater up to 80.
Added 5 drops of pure ace ammonia using some generic eye dropper I bought at the pharmacy section of wal mart. , waited 24 hours and tested with an API drops kit. I kept doing this until I got 4ppm ammonia.
I kept it at this level by testing every 24 hours and if ammonia levels had dropped below 4ppm I dosed again. If they were still at 4ppm or a little higher I just left the tank alone.
After about a week I think I got the Dr. Tim's and dumped it in. I had a HUGE nitrite spike around that time.
I continued to test and add only 3 drops of ammonia at this point to keep it at 4ppm.
Next thing I knew poof after 24 hours 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and at this point nitrates were really high.
I kept adding the next few days about 3 drops of ammonia which brought it up to between 2-4ppm ammonia in the tank and 24 hours later it would all be gone again.
