I wake up today to find something else wrong with my Betta. What is this???

In my other threads we found out that his mouth is swollen, etc...

Today I woke up and saw that he has this white stringy stuff hanging off of his bottom fins.

I just added him to his new tank, and he seems to be really active, he is eating great, and playing with me everytime I go to his tank.

What could it be???

Thats what I am thinking. It kind of looks like white slimy poop or something hanging off of just his bottom fins.

It is really hard to get a picture of it, because he keeps moving around everytime he sees me. It seems like he shows off whenever I go close to his tank. LOL

Also no, I might get a ride later today. If not, I will walk to petco, that is the closest place. Can I get the salts at petco?

*UPDATE*

Now I dont see it on him anymore???

I can see a little bit of it floating around in the tank, but there is no more slimy stuff on his fins that I can see.

Sounds like he was shedding his slime coat. That's a sign of disease or water quality problem. I know you've been doing a lot of mixing of water sources.. that could have caused this. That's why it's so important to keep his water the same. Hopefully that's all it was.

Epsom salt can be found in pharmacys and pharmacy sections of grocery stores. If you have limited time and resources you may want to call ahead and make sure they have pure sources. I know CVS Pharmacy carries some.

Thank you for all of your help callistra! :)

Also, I know this is off topic, but instead of making a new thread; what should I get him for his tank?

There is no gravel, and I wanted to get him a plant or a cave, something that I dont need to bury in gravel to stay in place.

Someone said Betta's like hornwort floating plants.

Should I get him a real plant or a fake silk plant?

Real plants are great but even stem plants require some extra care. They will require a light hood of some kind. I don't know much that will grow well under low LED lighting except marimo moss balls.

I would look for a little cave of some kind - make sure its soft and the holes are plenty big enough for bettas to get in and out. They are curious and tend to try to force their way into too small holes and can get injured or stuck. You'll just have to see what your store has. My store has these, both of which work: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Underwater...-Rock/19668151 http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...09&cagpspn=pla I would also look for some broad leaf silk plants, like these: They like to use them to rest on. http://www.kensfish.com/moreinfo/mar...ilk-plant.html You could even pull one stem off the base and float it at the top.
