Feminine Betta Issues

So everyone it's Nix's first time getting eggy and I am having concerns. It started maybe four days back and we are on day four. She is still very pudgy and hasn't slimmed down yet. How long does it take for females to drop or reabsorb their eggs?

And no it's not bloat, I saw her poo at least three times today and she now has breeding stripes so it's certainly eggs making her chubby.

It takes my female anywhere from a few days to about 5 days to slim back down again. I don't know how long they can go before you should start to worry. I guess just keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't seem to be in any pain.

All heaters should be tested 24 hours with glass in tank thermometer to assure they are keeping a stable appropriate temp.

No experience with that heater, sorry. I like Aqueon Pro (the black ones not the glass normal line), Jager, and Marineland Visitherm personally.

Ive got a big girl named Mary who I've presumed very eggy since Sept. Maybe she is just very very fat.

Just because a female is round doesn't mean she is eggy.. yes they have eggs in them all the time, but they don't always ripen.

If eggy in a few days she should reabsorb them or drop/eat them.. very rare do they get egg bound. Usually they slim back down right away once the eggs are gone.. if it takes longer then most likely the roundness is another cause.

Also look into how much/often and of what you are feeding her as their stomachs easily become rounded from food.

More common to see females round in general..
