New betta/possibly sick

Howard has since passed away so I threw away everything but the tank with him and I'm starting over.Sheldon is still active and eating. The black on his tail edges is gone it appears those bits fell off and there is no new black in its place. I purchased stress coat API brand with the aloe Vera in it dosed it for his tank. Do I re dose daily or what?

I'm now about $250 in on these guys lol. Mom said she's just grateful her daughter has a betta problem not a drug problem.

I did a 100% change on Sheldon only adding the stress coat his ammonia level is at 0. His p.h is at 7.8 high yes I know but that's what the water here tests at. My big 40 gallon community tank has 2 pieces of driftwood and is just lowered to 7.6. I also added 2 large stalks of amazon swords to Sheldons tank to give him more resting and play places he seems to love it.

Any idea how to get pictures on here from an iPad? I also tried on my computer but they just came up as little red x's.

No you only dose Stress Coat once per water change. It's a conditioner.

Actually that's a great ph. If it's stable it should cause no issues. Bettas can adjust to that well. the driftwood in the other tank was a good addition though.
