water change with cold water

So hubby helped with a water change on the betta tank but the water he put in was a bit chilly (around room tempish, maybe around 70) and I keep the betta at around 80-82.

The temp dropped to about 78. I swished all the water around to try and even out the temp.

Anything I need to watch out for right now? I don't have any stress coat, just Prime. It's a decent heater so I think it should warm up pretty soon but I just worry.

Usually a healthy Betta can handle a fairly big temp swing with a water change, however, its not recommend-but I am sure you already know that. If he was healthy to start-along with a strong immune response he shouldn't have any long term problems. I have done that myself a few times with some that I was treating and it did shock them and they laid on the bottom for a few minutes-but otherwise recovered without issue.

Not really a lot you can do once its done-other than keeping an eye on him-I wouldn't add any warm or hot water to equalize the temp-let the heater slowly bring him back to temp.
How is he acting or how did he tolerate it-

If he doesn't show stress stripes or freaking out then, he's fine.

All seems well :3 He's just as feisty as ever but I'll be sure to tell hubby he needs water a bit warmer.

Glad he's ok. Just use the thermometer in the running tap to get the right degree before you refill.
