My fish is so sick :(

Hi, please can you try and help me work out what's wrong with Mason. This morning when I got up I noticed his back was kinda white with spots. He ate breakfast but seemed pretty lethargic. By tonight he is turning black and seems so sick. He is hardly moving just sitting at the top of bowl and also won't eat. The guy at the pet shop told me to put multi cure drops in for fungal disease but I'm not even sure if this is what it is. His bowl is about 30cm by 30 cm I'm not sure how many liters and the temp is 75. I know the water got to cold the other day but I have moved him. I don't know what to do - is it fin rot - am I treating the wrong thing? I really love mason even though I have only had him a few weeks and I'm scared he is so sick! I have been changing his water weekly as instructed by the pet store guy. I did a 100% change today and added the treatment. Thankyou

White spots usually either mean fungal infection or ick. Try treating for those and keep the water nice and warm, as in high 70s, low 80s. Their immune systems function much better at higher temps, but note that the upper range for a betta is about 82. Also, you should do more frequent water changes if he's in a bowl. Several times a week at least.

Does he have a sore on his head? If it was a fungus, you would most likely be able to see it - it would look like a ball of cotton growing on his body and/or fins. Ick would look like little white dots on the body. Columnaris also causes white fuzzies as well...
