baby guppies ! ^_^

How many do you have??!

I have 25 babies from 2 females my sister stuck in my tank before she went back to school. Now I have to take care of them till I can send them to the LFS

Veggiegirl- That's pretty much what they're there for. Otherwise, we'd be up to our eyeballs in baby guppies! However, I did give them some extra cover, so they have a little bit of a better chance to make it to adulthood.

Aemaki- My common girls always give me really small drops. There's only 5-6 that I've counted so far. But Mike has 4-5 girls that are about to drop, and so far Georgia holds the record here with 32 gupps in a single litter, and that was right after we got her. She's had a couple of smaller drops since.

My new Guppy is expecting. This will be my first experience, but I already have her in a 2 gallon tank until she births them and then she goes in the 29 gallon. I can't wait to see how many she has. She is a huge Guppy.

Sometimes the biggest ones will give you the smallest drops! These guys' mom is a big girl on a good day, and with her pregnancy, she looked like she was going to explode! lol

is it considered responsible fishkeeping to stock a large tank with 5-6 mixed gender guppies and let them build a population? i've just loved the idea of letting them come up with their own tail type and color combinations and let the end result be a surprise.

if you mix the varieties enough, they eventually revert to wild type. That's where a portion of "Common" guppies come from. It would be pretty to see the color and pattern combinations you'd get before they got that far though!

I let my guppies roamfree with bettas( and cover). If it weren't for the freak pleco eating adults, I would have an army to deal with!
