New Tank Betta?

My betta is still very active and curious to things and surroundings around him, but that discolored spot still has a slight spot of gold dust on it. He doesn't seem to really be affected by it but I'm concerned. I have meth. blue on him in a 2g tank and I'm gonna cover the tank so the light can't enter much. Also he is eating normally and eagerly, he shows all signs of alert-ness besides that and his ammonia burn on one gill. Should I be overly concerned about medicating, or just keeping him in the 2g tank with frequent water changes until the water is cycled more?

The gill isn't an ammonia burn. It's either normal coloring or Velvet. http://www.flippersandfins.net/velvet.htm

That site claims that betta has velvet infested gills but I'm not so sure. That second pic is definitely velvet. methylene blue won't cure velvet. There's nothing in the guide that talks about it either so I'm not sure where you got the idea. The only thing I'm really worried about is that scale loss/balding on the top of his head. And any little sprinkles/dusting of gold you might only see with a flashlight.
