I don't understand what you meant by 14-16 rays? Both male and female (1) may not have perfect rays - uneven end rays (in fact male has some folded rays on caudal) but IMO, they will unlikely produce rose. So you don't have to worry about that.

Thank you so much for the help Indjo. I was worried because they both have alot of branching in their tails. Male has less with a lot of webbing, and female has less webbing but lots more branching. I was afraid this might lead to rose/feather tail. I'm gonna give it a whirl and see what happens! Thanks again for all the help!

Thank you Dramaqueen. I have breed bettas in the past,along with marble angels and long fin roseybarbs. Bettas are my favorite. About 6 months ago, I had to leave my home and move to Tennessee temporarily to help my Dad take care of my Mother. (stage four stomach cancer) So I sold and gave away everything. Including my prize possession a 125 gallon tank. but I'm home now, and NEED me some fish! lol I've always wanted giants, so I was determined to try them out. I'm so excited!
