10 and 30 Gallon - what to do

I have been wanting a 29 gallon for a sorority so personally I would use the 30g as a sorority tank (12 - 15 females) and also put the Cories in there because they would be happier there than in the 10g. I would add one or two more Cories of the same type too (if they are different species they will not shoal together) because I hear they are happier with at least 4 or 5. I would plant the 30 gallon heavily with live plants, both to create hiding spots for the females and to help with the water quality in a slightly-overstocked sorority tank.

I would use the 5 gallon tank for a single male betta and nothing else. Or, maybe divide it into two 2.5 gallons and get 2 male bettas.

The 10 gallon you can do a lot with too...you can use it for a small sorority (5-6 females), divide it for male bettas, or use it for creatures other than bettas (I would really love a shrimp-only tank right now, they are so cool!).

That's actually a really good idea. Maybe I will just keep my male in the 5 gallon but do you think I could possibly divide the five gallon hex and have two males? or no is that too much?

You can divide the 5 gallon, its personal preference. I might divide my 5 gallon and add another baby to it =3

Oh, my. I wish I could be given a 30 gallon :p live plants just need certain lighting and either dirt substrate or a nutrient supplement like Seachem Flourish. I posted a very helpful thread awhile back for anyone who is totally clueless about plants like me :p

I would get at least 6 girls. The more you have, the less aggression you will likely see. I'd also wait for the tank to cycle (or seed your 30 gallon filter media in your ten gallon to kick start the cycle) and wait for the plants to fill out. Your sorority tank will need to be super heavily planted and the water parameters no less than perfect, as one sick girl could wipe out the whole tank :/ this seems to happen often but it's usually easily prevented.

I can't wait to get my sorority tank set up :) they are a bit of work to set up but they are just too fun to not get! Also, your current female may not be suited for sorority life.

I've actually decided that I'm going to give my future female sorority in my ten gallon, my male in my 5 gallon, and with my 30 gallon I'm going to have a mated pair of angel fish with a small community. I'm pretty excited. But the 30 gallon isn't going to be for a while what with having no money to set up both my 10 gallon and 30 gallon properly.
