wich sounds safe ?

Hey Y'all ,
I have a rescue betta in a 20 gallon planted with amazon swords and silkflowers it has snails as well as glass / ghost shrimp that have larve on the glass right now ! lol .
I want to add some more fish though , I tried a female guppy and the betta <alpha> was okay no aggression at all didnt even raise a fin so I think hes cool with the idea of company . But she was not at all cool , she jumped out of the water and then hit the top corner where she trembled and breathing got so eratice I put her back in the big tank with others . But point being I am sure he wont mind friends just dont know really which to add ??
I have 2 schoals in my community tank and would like to move one of them to his tank , either the harlaquin rasbora or the cherry barbs . Wich would y'all advise to try ?
I thought the hets or rasbora rather might be nippy but dont know they just look like they would lol ,never have done it or heard of them doin it just they look like they would for some reason just my thoughts so .
The cherrys are really peacefull and stay on the bottom of the tank , as well they are females that are gravide and wont lay in the community tank so I was really looking towards putting them in with alpha , in hopes they would lay their eggs .
I dont know though and I am extremly new to betta keeping . Alpha is a veil tail i believe I am sure hes not a crown or bubble tail I know that much I dont know if this makes a diffrence or not but their ya go .
Any advice or input periode will be apreciated , thank you
God bless

Are there any bettas with the harlaquin rasbora or the cherry barbs? I only ask because Barbs are semi aggressive fish and will nip at the fins of long fined fish or slow moving fish.

Almost all types of barbs are notorious for fin nipping. That's one type I would never add, no matter how peaceful they seem.

Try the harley's. Most people that have tried seem to have good luck with them.

You'll need to add a school of some fish. Just be careful because snails are very messy and have a higher bioload than people give them credit for.

+1!!!!
I have some snails cupped getting ready to ship out, you would not believe how much waste I see in there after like 12 hours, these are teeny tiny baby snails, I can only imagine how bad the adults are!
