Sump and overflow box questions.

I just got a brand new 10 gallon tank, no accessories just the tank itself, not even the lid and I was thinking of building a sump with it.
Questions are:
1) Does the main tank(55 gallon) needs to be drilled?
2) Is a sump safe?
3) Do I need and overflow box?
4) is it worth it?
5) would the 10 gallon be enough filtration for the 55?
6) Do you own one and do you know how to make one?
