Japanese algae eating shrimp

Just got 2 of them @ Petco. Fred was checking them out when I put the bag in the water. I thought it was bad news for the shrimps. Once I released them to the tank, Fred checked them out byfollowing them around. I thought he was hunting. The shrimps were pretty fast swimmers and managed to munch on the stuff on my wisteria and heater.

Now Fred was too polite to swim in between the filter and the wall ( his favorite route) and had to swim around it. He is a funny betta.

We'll see how long the shrimps will last...

they have be cordial tankmates 2 days and counting. but i think the shrimps are hiding now that I have more plants in the tank.
