fin/tail dying?

today, after school, i went to see my fishies, but i saw dedede (short for king dedede) with a white shriveled tail, also coming with his white shriveled fins. i dont know what this is' i have never seen this before. can someone please help?

Well you're over changing the water. A 5g only needs a once weekly 100% change. With a filter you could potentially do less often, especially if it is fully cycled. Should have a reliable drops test kit for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate if you want to cycle.

However.. you absolutely cannot keep 11 fish in a 5g.. what other fish are in there.. The only other tank mates could be a shrimp, snail, or one other betta on the other side of a divider.

If it's anything other than a sponge filter (like HOB) make sure it's prefiltered so he can't get caught in it.

Photos would be helpful. I'm not really able to picture what you're describing.

I know I can't keep 11 fish in a 5g, my dad overstocked my fishtank and i cant rehome or take them to a petstore.

and also, the filter didn't shred dedede's fins and tail, I can tell because tails and fins dont SHRIVEL when they get shredded in a filter, I've read other stories about tails and fins getting stuck in a filter and none of them included shrivelling...

Well.. I don't know what to tell you except keep working on your dad because your fish won't live full lives kept like that. Sorry.

I've never heard of a shriveling tail at all so I am trying to figure out what you are describing.. clamped or maybe rotten/shredded off. Pictures are important.
