Looking for hardy friends for my Betta

I have just upgraded my betta to a 6.6 gallon tank and he looks a little lonely. I am looking for a friend or two for him but I have one little problem. I'm in college and I live 2 1/2 hours away from home so when I go home to transfer my fish to my home aquarium in the summer, I want to make sure that they survive the drive. I was considering a bamboo shrimp but I heard that they are very sensitive to water changes. Any input would help, Thanks!

Personally, I'm partial to ghost shrimp (mostly because my betta can't see them all that well so they are less likely to get eaten) but they can be fairly sensitive as well. Maybe a snail of some sort?

I would say no because plecos can get pretty big. So, unless you have home lined up for him once he outgrows your tank I wouldn't recommend it. Though, there are some that do stay kind of small but you would have to ask someone who knows a little more about them and which ones don't grow as big.

No, because a pleco grows very large and needs a large tank.

Getting a big snail is probably your best choice. It'll help clean any algae in the tank and they're pretty robust. And honestly, I have one in my tank and it's a lot of fun to watch him crawl around over everything in the tank.
