I got 5 of them on ebay. You can find really cheap ones there.

If the winter is cold where you live, I'd wait to order them from ebay...otherwise, frozen moss balls :)

okay so i found the moss balls and bought one...so how do i quarantine it before putting it in my fish tank with my betta?

i saw one of the people who replied put up a link to their post about it and it mentioned using aquarium salt?

do i put it in deconditioned water while quarantining?

No salt. Salt kills plants. I actually don't think a marimo ball would need to be quarantined, did you buy it when it was already in an individual container? If so, it's already been quarantined.

Like Baby said, salt is harmful to plants. If you worry about it, you can put it in a small critter keeper with a bubbler for 1-4 weeks. The bubbler isn't a must, but you don't want still water and risk having that crud grow over the water. Also, condition the water (as clorine will hurt plants too). You can even add a bit of fert if you like! (not much and only once a week)

yeah, it was already in one of those containers they sell bettas in. :)

yay! finally getting my tank more comfy for my fish...who doesn't have a name yet.

I'm new to owning a Betta and I've seen the moss balls at my local Petsmart. Stupid question. What are they for? Does it help with the water?
