Just in case you don't know what nls is its called "new life spectrum" get the betta formula. It's honestly the best food I have found, by it is a bit stinky, and pricey, but lasts forever.
Omega one is also a really good option. It comes in both pellets and flakes.
Pellets are much better than flakes, IMO and 99% of bettas are used to pellets so they don't pay any mind to flakes.

My sorority is in a community tank, and so I feed my sorority NLS, and the community some omega one tropical flakes, my bettas always spit out the flakes, I'm guessing they just don't like the taste on them?

I'm a fan of the NLS, and while I'm happy that hubby is taking an interest in the fishes and was feeding the girls in the big tank, I'm quite unhappy that he left the jar sitting with the lid off in a spot where our very long fluffy cat reached up to see what that was. Well, that was half a jar of NLS that ended up feeding nothing but the vaccuum X_X

My new red girl is the same way. She snaps up the offered food, noms it a sec, spits it out, chases it as it sinks, repeat. She is my only one who also seems to like flakes, so I put a flake or two in for her, and she does the same thing with them.
