He is acting fine and as usual wants to eat everything in sight lol. the only behavioral thing is scratching and breathing kinda heavy. He doesn't seem to be gasping for air and he only goes to the surface every 5 minutes or so which is also normal for him.

It has been almost 48 hours. I did what you said. The breathing has calmed a bit, bit his gills are still swollen and sticking out of the gill covers. He is acting fine and eating fine. His belly is still a bit bloated.

Blue is fine. There is no disease process that causes blue coloring.

Can you get a good photo of your fish?

I can try to borrow my roomie's phone, her's gets better quality than mine does.
I got him to flare earlier and I could see white deep inside the gill covers. Is that normal. I can try to get a picture of that too. He is still active. His tummy is still a bit bloated, but not horribly. His gills do stick out of the gill covers a bit and it does seem like he is breathing kinda hard.

Oh, and I haven't been able to give him any epsom salt because the only kind I have has spearmint in it. :( I will get him some as soon as I get a bit of cash.

He is now extremely pale and not so active. His appetite is fine. Fins are clamped and belly bloated. His gills are swollen a little more and is still breathing heavy. Sometimes sleeps at bottom and sometimes doesn't.

Yes. I was able to get them yesterday. I gave him some. Honestly, after I had been in for like 30 minutes his color was back. Do you think he could have been depressed? Does that cause color loss?

Bettas don't get depressed. Loss of color is stress or disease. Since color is back that's a good sign.
