Halfmoon bettas are a more challenging breed to find however with some work you can find one the best bet would in fact be on the internet and they require everything a betta does because they are still a betta they just grow their fins differently much like a genetic trait in humans. So you will still need to house one at 78 degrees

I know PetCo gets a bad rap, but I'm pretty sure I've seen some halfmoon bettas there.

Halfmoons are exactly the same as other bettas- they've just been bred to have larger fins. The same way some bettas are bred to be red, blue etc.

Breeding halfmoons requires more effort because you must be selective about only breeding fish with a tail over 180 degrees. They *can* be bred with any other type of betta, but that would "ruin" the bloodline.

Aquabid.com is a good place to find halfmoons.

petco has them, they are actually a bit more challenging than other bettas and of course they are still tropical, they require the same food, care, water temps, room... ect

Make sure you're getting a HM at Petco if you try because they seem to have the accidental habit of putting deltas in the cups instead. Doesn't matter, same price and deltas tend to throw some HMs but you shouldn't be breeding pet store bettas anyways.
