Back to betta keeping!

I hate posting introduction threads, but I guess I will anyway.

I used to keep multiple tanks, and I've always loved bettas. I haven't had a tank set up in several years, but my 5 year old has been begging to set one up, so I finally gave in.

We're setting up a Fluval Spec V (just finished cycling!). Tonight we're planting the plants and setting the driftwood that's just been floating and sitting in the tank. I'm adding some Red Cherry Shrimp tomorrow to let them get established, and then we'll be betta hunting.

She's dying for a Rosetail ... I think she'd be ok with a halfmoon if I can't find a Rosetail. Anyone know of a breeder in the Dallas area? I hate to buy from the LFS if I can avoid it, because the bettas I have bought in the past have always been sick!

Best of luck in finding a fish that your daughter can cherish! My dad kept a huge tank when I was growing up and he was the first person to ever spark my interest in raising fish. I'm sure this will be a great bonding experience for your daughter and you and it'll create plenty of fond memories!

Taken at my 2 year old's birthday party last November. We set up a "photo booth" for the kids, and I couldn't resist.
