What kind of betta do I have??

Hey guys, I was at my LFS tonight and saw 2 of these girls listed just under "female betta" for 3.99each. So I picked them up since I havnt seen any other females like this from there. Normally they only carry vieltails and I do not think that is what these two are, all the others they had were viels.

I would love to know what you guys think she is, I picked up two the same colors.

That my dear is a Halfmoon (HM), Elephant Eared (EE) (sometimes referred to as Dumbo), plakat (PK) female. She seems to be of the salamander color.

So basically an EE HMPK.. well that is how I list them in my files..

You are welcome :) Those big white fins are the giveaway. It's a very recessive gene, so you don't see a ton of them around, but they are making their way out a little more. I just purchased 2 EE girls to breed with my EE boy.. the girls should arrive today or tomorrow.

I love the EE.. especially long finned HM boys, as they seem to be "dancing" when swimming.. here is my Kabuki, a long finned HM EE boy.. picture does his color no justice :) He is a bit sloppy, but hoping to work on his faults over the generations, but need to get some more EEs going to do so. Hoping to have a few good offspring to choose from come time I get around to breeding him heh

Guaranteed if she came in to one lps here I would be charged 39.99$. (they charge that for all PK, they would also probably list her as a male)
