Would this heater be ok in a 2.5?

http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...AvailInUS%2FNo

Going to get another 2.5 tank at the end of the week, but I need a good heater that isn't too bulky. Anyone have one of these?

I've used a similar heater before. They are supposed to go under the gravel I believe (mine is a little bit longer it seems). The problem with them is that they aren't adjustable. If the temperature in the room fluctuates, so will the temperature in the tank. In a 2.5 gallon, the temperature fluctuates more easily. They function by raising whatever temperature your tank is at by X number of degrees F. I think that for the same cost of that heater you might be able to get a nice little 25 watt adjustable heater. I will look around and see if I can find one within that price range and let you know if I do ^^;

I have this in my 5 gallon, it keeps the water at a perfect 77-78*. However, it's kinda big for a 2.5 gallon. =/

And the betta one in the first post actually sticks to the side.

I had this one for 1g Hex and 2.g MBT, mine varied from 78 when I went to bed to 74 in the morning. Not reliable heater. I would not get it.

I've got one of these that I use to heat water for water changes, and so far so good:

I haven't used it full-time in a tank though, perhaps someone else who's got a cheapo eBay heater can verify for this one or a similar model from eBay? Adjustable is always better than non-adjustable, as long as you test it first.

I use the Elite Mini Submersibles- About 13-14 after shipping on Amazon for the 25w which will keep a 2.5 nice and toasty :)

I'd like to be able to just get it at the store the same time I get everything else...

How about this one? http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...AvailInUS%2FNo

Definitely too small of wattage for that size.. as mentioned, look for a 25w heater.

This one here I use for my 1-3 gallons and it works perfectly.

I have 2 Aqueon adjustable 50 W, and they are both reliable. Not sure about Preset ones. I think the whole idea is that Preset are not as reliable as an adjustable heater. I personally saw that 4-6 F variations in the tank stressed Fred out. So I'd recommend an adjustable. But I do think that they all look big and ugly in a 2.5g or smaller tank.

I hope Fluval will make a pretty adjustable heater soon cos I like their designs.
