Odd betta behavior with new tank!

Hey guys, so I picked up a new 2.5 gal to replace my 1 gallon. Now I notice that all steve does is flare against the front glass and dart across the front back and forth. He has done this all day! Im picking up a heater tonight, any other suggestions?

Is the room lighted brightly or not?
Bright light will cause reflection that he flares at.

If not, is the tank brightly lighted in a dark room?

Try covering the tank's top and sides with a light color (white or beige, not Black or red) towel and let him rest up a bit. They will stop when they get tired

He'll relax mine did the same when they got new tanks too. Eventually after a few days they should stop I think it's their way of claiming their territory and scaring off any hidden potential challengers.

Hehe.. he's just enjoying his new home/space :)

It will only cause a reflection if the room is dark/dim and the tank light is on.

He should calm down after he settles in a bit - give him a week or so and re-evaluate him.
