Is the Fish Rot getting better or worse?

I got a betta from petsmart the other day and when i got home I noticed his back fin was fuzzy after talking to some friends they said he had fin rot and to use Aquarium salt and 100% water changes for a week or so. Today is day 3 of the treatment. This morning I noticed that part of his tail was missing I don't know if it is the fin rot getting worse or if it is just part of the AQ salt getting rid of the disease. One of my friend suggested that I ask about it here.

Is your tank heated? No, I’m waiting for the heater to arrive but the house is always at 70

How often do you feed your betta fish? So far I have given him a bit everyday hoping he would eat.

How often do you perform a water change? I have been doing water changes every day since I got him to help with the fin root.
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 100%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Aquarium salt.

It looks like it's starting to creep up onto his body. :( Warmer, heated water would help him maybe a little bit, but probably not enough.

That;s gunna get him soon :/ probs gunna end with dropsy. I would start on the highest dose eps salt you can (not sure of dosage, some help here?) instead of aq salt before it gets internal because eps treats internal and external. you can get some at and drug store. It's epsom salt. If you can get a heater put it at 82. Also try soaking his food in a garlic juice and epsom salt mix (approx double the dose you use in your tank)

Unfortunately the rot looks to have gotten to his body & keeping him in an unheated 1g tank is not going to help him. Personally I would euthanize him rather than have him suffering. Sorry to say he looks to be in such bad shape the most experienced Betta keeper would have difficulty saving him, IMO. I'm sorry this is happening for you.

Unheated at this point actually isn't bad because higher temps will only speed up bacterial infections.

He needs a fast moving broad spectrum antibiotic. I would combine Kanaplex with Furan 2. If you can't find Kanaplex try Triple Sulfa. If you can't find that try Maracyn 1 and 2 in combo but I would try very hard to find the others because I think it's too late for the Maracyns.

Callistra's treatment suggestions are what you should do, but it will more than likely prolong the inevitable. Tiki's link looks like what it might be.

I would still do what Callistra says, mainly because you can at least make the rest of his time comfortable. Poor guy. :(
