The package says after 48 hours to do a 25% water change and then add a second dose so I was waiting for tomorrow to do the 25% change. Yesterday I did a 50% change before adding the meds.

Well, then you should wait for tomorrow. Hopefully, he's just feeling the meds and they are working. Let us know tomorrow what is going on. Will definitely check back here tomorrow during the day. Good luck.

New life spectrum Betta food is pre-soaked in garlic juice, and I've never heard of a Betta who was able to resist. You could give it a try...

Within a couple hours of my post last night he died. :( I'm so sad and frustrated. We got our first betta at the end of September and he recently passed away because I learned we had done just about everything wrong with him. This time around I felt we were doing everything right and I was so excited for this betta to have a good start at life with us. I feel like we just aren't meant to have fish because I honestly dont know what I could have done better or different to have helped him. :( I have no idea what I'm going to tell my daughter.

Well, the poor fish was obviously very sick when you got him. I would call the store that you got him in and see what there policy is. Many will give you a replacement fish.

I would clean and sterilize everything. I wouldn't give up on having a Betta. You have all the tools to provide a good home. Pick up some Aquarium Salt too. I didn't see it on your list.

I have lost a few fish in my time but that doesn't mean we can't provide good homes.

How do you sterilize an acrylic tank?

Some say use just hot water. Others say use water and a bit of bleach. Kind of depends. But with the meds you had to put in it and the fish being sick, I'd make sure to clean it well. However, be careful the acrylic tank scratches easily so don't use anything that would do this to your tank!
