ok this is what you do

if you have AQ salt that will help and its relly the only thing you shoud give him then you put wharm water in your tank relly it shoud be over 20 in your tank bettas like wharm water and it will help your fish

and NEVER AVER use any thing that ends with fix

Um..I would say anything more than 2-3 degrees? I mean, it would be ideal to have a steady temperature since temp fluctuations can stress your fish which would make them more vulnerable to diseases.

How much AQ salt did you put in there?

Thanks for all the help everyone

here are my action points

1. get home and perform a water change (please advice how much - 50% maybe?)
2. buy a heater to try and iron out the temp fluctuations
3. stop treating with melafix and do not treat with any other type of 'fix'

Well, I would do a 75% if possible, if not 60%.

And getting an adjustable heater would be the best.
