Hello!

I've been creeping around the forums for a week or so now. I thought I should maybe give a proper introduction . My name is Staci and I am the proud owner of a beautiful male VT that I purchased from Petco on 1/11/13 .
Flotsom and I are learning the ropes together. So far we are both fairing well. I never thought I would find such enjoyment in watching my lil boy swimming back and forth exploring his domain.
My favorite moments with my boy is feeding time. He will swim right up to me and offer mini flares until i give in to his demands and offer food stuffs. I am eternally grateful this site is here. It has made me comfortable as I take my first tenative steps, into fish mommyhood ! Here is my boy and his home =)

Showing me how much he hates water changes.

Question..........that is obviously a big tank. Why don't you filter it and let it cycle so you don't have to take him out to do large water changes?

I only do 30 - 50% changes as my water params dictate. I am into week 3 of my in-fish cycle. I have seen a bloom and since then a water clearing. My last change was on wednesday the tank had not seen an ammonia or Nitrate spike since the Wenesday prior.

Flotsom is such a curious fish I worry about him and my vacuum. He has no fear. Jumps for his food if I am not fast enough dropping it. Swims by my fingers if I have my hand in the tank. If I ever hurt him with the vacuum I would never forgive myself. I take extra precautions and keep his time out of the tank minimal. and ensure the water is the exact temp before adding it back to his tank. If you have any suggestions for how to keep him away from my vaccum I would be appreciative =)
