Has this ever happened to you?

I got a half moon from Petco on Saturday. He is a fiesty orange red with flourescent scales and some fin highlights. he flared when i put the cup next to other betta. since the water in the cup was clear and there were no droppings/food, i guessed it must be a new arrival, so i grabbed him.

However, i thought he costs $4.99 and got a sticker shock when i checked out at the cashier. i was too embarrassed to say "i pass" and the betta gave me the "eye" from inside the cup, so i complied and paid.

On a different note, i am thinking on following names: Flare, George, Gus...maybe stick with Fred, IDK...any thoughts?

Yes petcos bettas are a bit on the pricey side!! But he sounds lovely!! Instead of fred or george maybe name him weasley? lol! Would love to see a picture!

We actually had a guppy who was money green, and we named him Benjamin XD

Well... here's my two cents. you could name him something like.. Eye-an (Ian) or something to that effect... since he gave you the 'eye'

Ojo is a good name too. means eye in spanish.

Lol.I think betta's faces have such personality.I kind of like the name Flare but of course I'm horrible when It comes to names.

You could name him "Dinero," or "Baksheesh," or "Ransom," or "Bounty," or "Dowry," or "Dollar," or "Monet" ("Monnaie"), or "Price," or "Diminishing Marginal Utility."
