heaters for 5g tanks

i need a heater for my new tank from walmart or petsmart for a reasonable price..

i was wondering if the tetra whisper heater 5-15 from walmart is a good heater..

i have the hawkeye 5 gallon tank aquarium kit...

any other suggestions would be nice...

Hi jesssan2442! I love that tank. I have two 5 gallon Hawkeye tanks from Walmart that I have been running for over a year now, and just ordered two more. I would not recommend the Tetra whisper heaters. I have bought two and 1 of them never worked, the second broke and would not stop heating. My cousin happened to be over and caught that the heater was overheating my tank. If he hadn't been there, my fish probably would have been roasted. I use the Hydor Theo 25 watt heaters now. They are adjustable and only cost a few dollars more than the Tetra heaters. I have bought mine on Amazon.com. They are 17 dollars and some change right now. I haven't had any problems with the Hydor heaters and they work well.

Hydor Theo. I use a 50watt on the lowest setting in my 5 gallon. It rarely comes on. A 25W will come on more, but is actually a better choice for the 5 gallon size.
