Mold in the tank?

so i have one male betta in a 30 gallon tank with a filter and a heater. the temp is around 76 degrees at all times. but i have started to notice that there seems to be a white fuzzy substance i can only describe as mold or some strange algie building up on the heater every few weeks.
i
t hasnt hit any of the rocks on the bottom of the tank but it has hit one of the smaller decorations (old time captains wheel)

i take out the heater and clean it but i havent taken out the decor.
i did add some aquarium salt (1tbl spoon per gallon) and continue to add the salt when i do water changes.

so far the fish dosent seem affected by this but i am by far no expert on fish keeping (yet) the salt does seem to slow it from comming back as fast but it always comes back usually by the heater first.

is this just regular algie or mold? i cant get a pic right now but may be able to post one tomorrow. and if it is mold is it something thats going to hurt my betta?

Without a picture it is hard to know, but don't keep adding salt unless your betta has some kind of external illness or wound, as bettas are entirely freshwater and adding salt will reduce the effectiveness of future salt treatments. :)

yes something verry close to that. ecept its on the heater not the rocks.

The thing in the picture is an algae bloom. It was the very early stages, like, it had appeared that day. You can just siphon/wipe it off. (:
