Betta breeds!

So I own 10 bettas and I breed but I've never tried cross breeding.
So I was wondering what I would get if I did any of these.
VTxCT
CTxHM
HMxVT

They are all one species, betta splendens. They only have tail types, no breeds whatsoever. Like for fancy mice, all the same but different variety.

VT x CT = VT with web reductions. The first few generations will have uneven but if you line breed the reductions will even up through time.

CT x HM = HM with web reductions like above. ^ Through time, it will be a HM finnage with spiky reductions of a CT. Also known as "Halfsun" or a more preferred term, Combtail.

HM x VT = I'm not really sure, but I think it's a HM with a rounded caudal.

Hmxvt will produce 100% vt. Vtxct will produce vt with messy finance for a few generations. Hmxct is IMO the best option, you will get com tails but hm crowntails (which are very attractive) in a few generations.

Would crossing HM x VT improve the VT's caudal spread at the base? I'm working on breeding a line of high quality VTs to send to the IBC shows under the Variations class, and I'm trying to improve upon my existing males' form.

Hmm... Breeding vts is not something I support or do, but in theory it should. I really don't have much experience with them.

CT x any fin = un equal web reduction in F1. You may have to work to F3 to get a perfect CT. I would'nt cross CT to VT. Personally CT looks more elegant if it had straight fins like HMs/deltas. On VT, the CT trait only makes them look ragged. But that's just me . . . everyone has his/her own idea on beauty.

On the other hand CT x HM may improve CT fin spread.

VT x HM should give you sort of round tails, deltas, and of course VT. Multiple rays are recessive so you won't get any HM. But you should get wider VT. This cross is usually done to enlarge the HM's fins.
