Simply put:

*How often do I feed my baby betta

*How does the egg spot form?

*When do the stress stripes completely go away

*When do breeding stripes appear?

*How often do I feed my baby betta
I feed mine as much as I feed my adults. Their metabolism works quickly. Tank temp is about 86F to promote fast growth. water should also be changed out regularly for the same purpose.

*How does the egg spot form?
Honesty no idea... it just appears, lol

*When do the stress stripes completely go away
When they get their color...

*When do breeding stripes appear?
IME Usually appears when they start to color up... you can show them a mirror, some will show their stripes...


My babies never had stripes. My new one came like a blank canvas and colored up to a splotchy black. with striped anal fins :)
Kuro was whitish with baby blue fins.

1. I feed my babies 3 small meals a day

2. Only one baby is all grown up & her egg spot appeared overnight. I checked on her one morning & her belly plumped up, she had breeding stripes (I didn't realize her & my male could see each other), & her egg spot was completely visible.

3. Her baby stripes didn't disappear until she colored up completely.

4. I did some more research & it looks like all pecto babies are at least 2 months old. That info could be wrong or just what is being said publicly. The change I described in #2 happened about a month to a month and a half after I got her. I have two more babies I'm waiting to see how long it takes for their growth spurt to happen, so I'll let you know if the 2 month standard is true for the babies at my local Petco.

I just did another tank change (he gets on daily), and his stress stripes were nearly gone, but came back after moving him. His color does show (he's a nice green color, pics can be seen here: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=130895 ) but the stress stripes are 50% of the time always there.

I think he sill might be young compared to what the other babies have looked like (I've seen many pics and they all seem to be somewhat bigger than him), BUT I can tell he's trying to flare which is adorable. He'll look at the bigger guys and his fins will expand~

EDIT: His one ventral is longer/about same length as his anal fin :)
