Betta Family Portrait

Continuing on from my 'Angry Dad' thread, here is one of my wild betta 'families'. In this tank there is dad, mum, three large juveniles and possibly five or more smaller fry that I rarely see. They also have at least 20 siblings in a separate grow-out.

This is one of the reasons I keep wild bettas, because I love being able to capture scenes like this on my camera.

My absolute favourite shot out of all of them. Dad and his son/daughter.

Awww, how cute. I love the dad. He has so much attitude.

Your setup looks like an aquarium exhibit.

Yeah dad is rarely out and about, so I couldn't resist getting a photo of him while he was there.

Most of my set-ups are fairly natural looking with lots leaf litter and hiding places as that is how they like it. Their tank however, is one of my favourites as it looks the best.

Here's a few better pictures of mum. Had to bribe them all with whiteworms for breakfast.

Totally did not realise that one of the fry had snuck its head into one of the photos!

She is one of my fattest bettas because she spends all day begging me for food, or eating the food I put in for the fry.

This set up is stunning and your fish are beautiful! A naturalistic wild betta tank is a dream of mine. Lovely images.

Thanks. Uberis is one of my favourite species for obvious reasons.

Ashleigheperry, you should totally make that dream a reality some day. Wild bettas are so much fun to own (when you are not peeling them off your carpet that is) and have just as much character as splendens.

They are all I keep nowadays.
