I would say the only color changes I see are the browny-pale-dusky patches. I think today there is more fuzzy looking stuff on his side, but he has been mostly hiding. When he did come up for air, he refused eat.
I use the API Master freshwater kit and I have not had any ammonia spikes; this is a very established tank although I do realize that by removing the gravel I removed some of the biofilter. However, he is the only fish in there and it is quite full of plants...so no ammonia that I've detected.
I will have to research columnaris and find out how to treat it. Do fish recover?
