If you boycott buying fish from Walmart, Petco or Petsmart you had better be sure to never buy ANYTHING from those stores. You should never even walk into them. Or buy from them online, either.
Their money is not made on the fish they sell but rather on the supplies, food and animal housing. Not buying the fish will never stop them from continuing to stock them and sell to others. Not supporting them ever again might.
In Walmart's case, they are so incredibly big and untouchable that nothing short of a collapsed economy will get them to stop selling bettas.
