So I am using the Tetra 6 in 1 test strips - not super accurate, I know. I couldn't find another test kit to test hardness though. So here are the results of our well water (we do not have treated city water) or our RO water.
nitrate- between 0 & 20 (my guess would be 10ppm)
hardness-300 (max hardness) eek! we get mineral stains on EVERYTHING
alkalinity- square is bright blue (not one of the options), so I'm guessing it's off the charts high
ph- between 7.8 & 8.4
hardness- somewhere between 0 & 25, but "very soft" which would be obvious for RO
alkalinity- between 0 & 40, but definitely "low"
ph- +/- 6.8, could be a hair lower (more acidic)
Obviously these are pretty much as different as it gets. I have been using the well water, but I know now that bettas like softer water. It seems like RO is closer to what is ideal for bettas, so should I switch to that? What mineral supplement should I use? How do I acclimate him since the conditions are so different? TIA
***He is currently being treated for SBD (or something like it) so there will be no changes until he has fully recovered***
