A couple things could have happened. He may have known the eggs in the old nest were bad, infertile, or not going to hatch so he moved the healthy eggs to a new location. In most cases the bad eggs would have been eaten but I guess your daddy betta thought that was gross. Haha

that might be the case, the eggs at the new nest is hatched and he is now currently taking a good care of the fries. Sad thing, more than 30~50 eggs are dead at the old nest. Maybe bcoz my pair first time spawning , or the father isn't "strong" enough

A good father will do what he thinks is best.

Good luck raising them.

This is a very good sign you have a wonderful and smart Daddy there! congrats! If this was there first spawn, it could simply be a case of bad positioning when embracing. They have to do it in a certain way for things to mix correctly.lol Sounds as though at some point they figured it out though since you have some fry! Good luck!

thx guys for the help, but because then the fries are free swimming and i was not at home. the daddy almost ate all of them away, left only about 8~10 surviving.

Sorry to hear. Sometimes a smaller spawn is easier to care for?! Just looking for an upside...
