Beta Sorority

Oh, that's too bad . I almost started a sorority, but I heard too many horror stories. For the 10 gal you could go with a wild variety of betta. Many of them are peaceful together, and would look great in your tank.

yea ive had females go at it before... id have the tank as well planted as possible and definately bigger for that many of them, its possible... just gotta have the right fish and the right setup

Yeah, I'm sort of laying in the weeds for some Betta pugnax. They show up at auctions every so often. One of these days I want to get a 55 going with Betta patoti or B. macrostoma,

I'm in the process of cycling my ten gallon and once that's done I plan on planting it and restarting my sorority tank. I have three females right now but one is injured and she's taking some time out to heal.

Scape it with lots of hidey holes and break up those sight lines. My problem was that the tank was essentially a big lawn, with groves of limnophilia aquatica in the corner. Just nowhere to hide from the girl who took the middle of the tank.

I plan on getting a few caves and lining the rear of the tank with heavy plants. I'm also going to get some decor that might be easier to hide in with perhaps just a small space open towards the front of the tank.

My girlfriend is going to be setting up a sorority soon in a 10g tank. She plans on heavily planting the tank as well as using extensive rock piles and driftwood to break up lines of sight.

I think if I were doing it again (in a 10 - but I may go the same way in a 20), I would find 5 or six really interesting pieces of driftwood and so place them as to chop up the swimming space into a half dozen or so cells. I'd plant the back and sides of the tank with fluffy stems (Cabomba, Parrot Feather, Rotala, Limnophilia), and put some rosettes (crypts, small swords) in the middle. That ought to break up the sightlines really well, produce the sort of blackwater bettas really like, and create a bunch of hiding places.

The other option is to go with the hygrophilia Jungle. Get some Wisteria and some Hygro polysperma and let them go wild. Not a pretty tank, but very effective.
