It happened overnight and I'm going to have to fix it the best I can before shipping him out Dx

Thats what Goblin's tail looks like after he bites his. So IMO yes. But I'd wait for a few other answers as well. (:

I'm already mad at this fish xD

Yesterday, he decided to eat 3 small pellets at once, but refuses to eat one larger one.

I dunno it looks more like fin rot to me, Ive had a fish with chronic fin rot and a fish who is a biter...It looks more like severe rot to me plus it looks like theres some rot started on that fin below. The fish I had that had chronic rot looked more like the photo you have there and he would lose chunks of tail over night but he deffinitely wasnt biting, it was odd. I could be wrong, just speculating based on my own personal experience with a biter and fin rot fish.

it is. that's what my own red VT's tail looks like. the butthead bit his tail after i changed his water. :I

And unfortunately, I can't treat him right now since it's spring break and he's currently 45 minutes away....
