Talking It's Finally Working!

So as some of you know, my Betta Pigg had some serious fin rot a while back. I treated him for it for eight days a few months ago and he seemed on the mend, so he went back into his tank. But after I went on my trip it seemed to be a little worse and the Betta he shares him tank with, Themis, seems to have some fin problems as well, so I started some AQ Salt. And now- wait for it -

THERE IS REGROWTH OF FINS!

It never regrew, but now it is! I AM SO HAPPY!

For the newbies among is, what exactly does fin rot look like (how do you spot it) and what is the cause?

Thank you so much, guys!

@bannlow2471: Here are some pictures of my Pigg:

The first day I got him about a year ago:

Pigg when he was healthiest:

Pigg when he was diagnosed with severe fin rot:

During treatment:

Pigg today:

Obviously he still has a long way to go, and in his recent pics he was being stubborn and wouldn't let me get a shot of his shockingly beautiful white that's regrowing, but the grey and black is lightening like crazy and I have high hopes that by the summer he could be back to normal!

How much Aquarium salt did you add? And for how long did you use it?

I always add 1 Tablespoon per 5 gallons (so two for his 10g) and the maximum amount of days I go for is eight, then a month's break and if it's still bad I do it again :D I hope that's appropriate, this seems to be a recurring event and I've upped their changes even without the treatment to every 3 days 20-50%. With the treatment, 20% every day.
