Unhappy Eek! Ornament and silk plants went through dishwasher!

Yesterday I rearranged my tank a bit and put an ornament and several silk plants aside in a bowl and set it on the counter. I walked away for a bit and didn't see mom put them in the dishwasher and start it. It wasn't until this morning that I realized I never put away the ornament and plants. I asked mom if she saw them and she said she thought she'd go ahead and put them in the dishwasher for me. Eek! She didn't know that anything that's gonna be used for fish cannot be washed with soap.

Can I still use them in the future if I wash them well or is it too late?

I would do a soak in a white vinegar and hot water solution. This should help get the soap off. Leaves it smelling icky for a bit, unless you rinse rinse rinse, but it should do the job.

Ornaments and silk plants are porous. I wouldn't trust vinegar to remove the soap residue fully. There is a difference in using something non-porous like a coffee cup .... The soap can't soak in so a vinegar or hot water bath will often cure it.

I would throw out the ornaments and plants, sorry!
