The petland near me is pretty horrible. I am just not going to go in there anymore, I just can't. I always end up leaving with a betta that tugs at my heart. I definately QT all bettas from there for a month before going into any divided tanks. The thing is, they have lovely bettas in all colors and tail types. They look great when they come in, and then they slowly deteriorate and it is so depressing. I don't know how often they change the water but it always looks filthy. However, all the bettas I've gotten there (except for the really sick one that didn't make the trip home) are doing great. I guess it's survival of the fittest there. The employees seem surprised when I tell them how well my fish are doing. They're like, you're the only one who seems to have luck with bettas. Its not luck! It's warm clean water and TLC!

I know this is over a year old, but was this fish recused? Is he in the proper hands?
What happened to him?

I regret to type that the next time I went into the store, three days later, the manager was there and the fish was gone. She said the fish had died. Luckily, after I explained what was wrong to her, she decided Bettas just weren't worth the effort, and hasn't ordered them in about ten months now.

Well, At least he isn't suffering anymore. So, your friend didn't buy him?

It's good the manager is realizing that if she can't take care of it, she can't keep it.

No, it wasn't the same guy, sadly, and the Betta she has is still alive now, luckily. I wish I had gotten there in time, but it was just too late.

It's a shame. Where in Canada are you? What store was this?
