You gave me a great idea!
See, I use this username because I used to live in latin america and collected a loooot of Jadeite jade while I lived there. I have been trying to think of a way to decorate this new Bettas tank in a way that will both accent his green but will not lose him in it....
So... I bugged my husband into giving me one of his dark green jadeite slabs (it's like, 6" x 4") to put as a decoration in the tank! I tried to convince him to give me the larger and lighter green piece that has a mayan replica carving, but he said no way. Oh well, hehe.
So I popped by the dollar store today, and found a few things that can go in the tank and would look great. A green and blue glass jar, and blue glass marbles that I am going to put in the jar "flowing" out. I got some plastic grass (not the easter kind) just to put a little behind the jar. I also got a silk birds of paradise plant. Ok ok... that's not an aquatic type plant... but oh well!
I think a beige/sandy colored gravel would be the best substrate... though I keep contemplating sand and wondering if I want to deal with the disadvantages or not. I'll probably get another silk plant or two later, but couldn't find anymore that would be aquarium safe at the store.
oh, and I think I'm going to try out a moss ball in this tank.
Thanks for the idea!!!
