How many sponge filters (or regular) for 40 gallon divided?

I have 6 of them should I do every other divider? I also have 2 regular Aquatech 5 to 15 gallon filters I can add for more circulation.

I like under gravel filters as they can filter your entire tank. Just add one for a 40 gallon and you don't need to worry about filters anymore.

I've read everything from more filtration to less filtration...I think that the six every other divider would work perfectly well for you if you're only stocking bettas in there. :)

My one really good LFS told me that just a few bettas can really be underfiltered, with a 5-15g filter doing perfectly well for a 2 betta divided 20g. So far it's held my cycles without any problem, so I'd think you'd be plenty filtered with the sponges. :)

Are you dividing the 40g twelve ways? :)

You can never have too much filtration! Problem with bettas is too much flow. Sponge filters offer good filtration with little flow.
IMO the more you use the better off your fish are!
