No, epsom salt is magnesium sulfate and aquarium salt is real salt for aquarium use. You can get aquarium salt at pet stores and sometimes at Walmart.

Epsom salt is good for internal problems like bloating and constipation and AQ salt is good for external problems like wounds and external parasites.

It could be missing scales as the white spot looks indented a bit but if so, the scales will grow back once he gets rid of the parasites.

Thanks for your help Sakura8 !!!

FishyFloorzack be sure that you dissolve the AQ salt in some warm water before you add it to his tank. You can put some of his warm tank water in a cup and then when the AQ salt dissolves add it to his tank slowly. Keep us updated on how he is doing okay or ask anymore questions that you have.
